LRV Diorama WIP - Update

Here's a little update. Got the middle section finished up pretty much, planning on putting in seatbelts and maybe some additional detailing, but pretty much done. 16mm DAC and low gain antenna are in place, the T-handle and armrest. Quite happy the way it turned out.

Working on the rear of the rover right now, rear payload pallet is coming up.

LRV Diorama WIP - LMP

And here's astronaut #2, the Lunar Module Pilot. Since I had already done the base when I set my heart on making him, I figured I'd have him seated on the rover, that way I'd also only need to make one seat that could be opened. Once I decided to have him sitting on the rover, I figured it'd look dull if he was just sitting there, so he's pointing at something, probly yacking away on the radio urging the CMD to get on with the program ("I wanna go over there!"). Next up I reckon I'll finish up the middle portion of the rover, steering controls, dashboard, etc.

LRV Diorama - WIP

Got the LMP's seat done, base is painted, CDR is painted, it's coming together nicely now. Will still be a while longer since I'm planning on heavy detailing on all the equipment. TV camera and highgain dish will both rotate and pivot (that's the plan right now anyway), and battery covers will most probably open with hinges. So much fun!

LRV seat

I put together one seat so far, this is the commander's position, and since he's out walking, I figure you should be able to open it and take a peek. I'm thinking I'll have the LMP sitting in his seat, so have to make another astronaut, practice makes perfect they say. Have finished all the wheel suspensions (these pics were taken just before I finished up the last wheel), and have done significant work to the base.

LRV Suspension - WIP

After a bit of research I got started on the suspension, only done one wheel so far, here's how it turned out. Looking good if I say so myself. Keep in mind that the wheel is 1cm (0.4") in diameter.

LRV Diorama - WIP

Here's a pic of a lunar rover diorama I'm making for a friend as a birthday present. Doesn't look like much yet, but will come together fast now that the chassi and wheels are done. Suspension is going to take a while, and then on to all the other fun bits, will look beautiful in the end.

Base is 7x7 cm (2.75"), rover is 3.8x2.8cm (1.5x1.1") and astronaut is 2.2cm tall (0.8").
