Lunar Scene

I used two of my models to create this scene, the backdrop is just a piece of cardboard that I painted. You'll find the individual pictures if you look at my older posts.

Surveyor III Diorama - WIP

No rest for the wicked. My next project will be a Surveyor III diorama, with the moonwalkers of Apollo 12 next to it. The base is 10x10cm (4x4 inches) and as you can see I made it sloped, since the probe landed in a crater. Not quite as sloped as it should be, but it'll turn out nice.

Astronaut Finished

Well here we go, the little bugger if finished. Turned out quite nice if I say so myself.

Astronaut update 4

Here's a small update. Hands are on, made the hammer he's holding in his right hand (thinking I'll leave left empty), if you look closely you'll see the antenna on the backpack as well. Base is finished.

Next up I'll make the camera and strap it to his chest, that should be just about it, will poke a bit at details and get to painting.

Astronaut update 3

Here's another update, I wasn't 100% happy with the way the hands turned out, so I figured I'll replace one of em with a hand holding a tool... of course after I made one, and liked how it turned out, I made another, and cut off both hands already on the model. I had done the feet, didnt like the way they turned out, so off they went as well for a second go, also redid the footprints, wanted them a bit bigger, and a few more than just the three I had on before. Looking good now if I say so myself. The feet need a bit of touching up after they dry up, and the hands need to dry up as well before I put them on.

Astronaut update 2

Another update, I haven't done a lot compared to the previous picture, done the hands, checklist on left arm, wristwatch on right. The base you see is going to be the final base, will do the final touchup after I glue down the guy and make his boots.

The hands will still get some work done.

Astronaut update

Did some more work on my astronaut figure, bags on legs and one on the PLSS, some straps, belt, arm pocket. The base isnt the final base, just a small thing I made to show the process of making the surface, will post those pictures in another post.

Astronaut figure

I started working on a astronaut figure yesterday, just going to stick him on his own on a small base with a couple of rocks and a small crater. Here's my work on him so far.

LRV Diorama - Finished!

It's done! A month in the making to the day, idea was of course thought up while before that, and I started looking at how to do the wheels, but actual construction took exactly one month. Enjoy!

LRV TV Camera

Finished the rover TV camera, turned out simply awesome. As you can see it turns and pivots. Also in view (that's new) is the lunar communications relay unit (gold box with the gold cover).

LRV Diorama - Major Update

Well I've been slacking in the update posting department a bit, but, that doesn't mean I haven't been working on the model. The rear payload pallet is done, and in place, with the opening gate and everything. I'm going to add some tools to the gate, and some wiring and such for the pallet equipment.

The front of the rover has also gotten some heavy work, the batteries are in place, with opening insulation covers. Have yet to finish painting the front, have to wait for the putty to dry.

LMP Painted - Diorama update

I was working on the rear payload pallet, and realized it'd be real tricky to paint the wheels and suspensions when it was in place, so I decided to paint the rear wheels, while at it I figured I'd do the front as well since I mixed the red paint, and after that I finished painting the LMP which I'd been working on a bit here and there. Starting to look real good.
